Department of Zoology, Nirmala College, Ranchi,runs UGcourse based on CBCS curriculum under Ranchi University Ranchi. Department has4 permanent teaching faculty,holding Ph d degree and each one of them has beenawarded with the minor research project by the UGC.There are two well equipped laboratories,threeclassrooms, an upgraded research lab, a virtual lab and a Staff room inthe Department. Department of Zoology has Lab attendants and lab assistant helpingto deal with the practical portion of the curriculum.TheDepartment has beenawarded DBT sponsored DBT Star College Scheme Project together with Departmentof Botanyin 2019 which is still going on and benefitting the UG students. Thisproject has enabled the laboratories to have the instruments like Spectrophotometer,Electrophoresis unit,Autoclave,Inbuilt light Microscopewith digital screen,Microtome,Incubator,UV Chamber, centrifuge ,Haemocytometer(digital),Colorimeter, DO-meterpH meter,Distillwater unit etc. Laptop and two projectors are provided to the Department makingus ICTenabled  and also making our classesmore effective and interacting.The equipmentsfacilitates the students toperform experiments as per the CBCS curriculum. Moreover, as required by theDBT project certain new practical have been added to increase practicalapplication of the theoretical learning. The students are encouraged to sharpentheir creative skill by publishing wall magazines on the Department noticeboard quarterly. Seminars and Symposium are regularly organized to groom thelearning and analytical skill of the students. Outreach Activity had also beenorganised to cater to the needs of underprivileged students of the society.
