One of the oldest Departments of thecollege, History has been a popular subject amongst the students ofUndergraduate courses and has continued to be so since the inception of theDepartment. The students enrolled in the course are highest scorer in theuniversity and have topped the list as gold medallistsseveral times.Post-Graduation course in History was opened in the year 2016 and since thenthe Department has produced three gold medallists in a row. The students arewell placed in administration, banking, railways, academics, teaching, andother vocations in India and abroad.A book bank that caters to the needs ofstudents besides a well stacked and well-maintained library has providedstudents with valuable resources. History Association, a body created in 1983 offersforum to polish the co-curricular skills of the students and organises eventsall the year round for their development. Highly qualified, dedicated andresearch-oriented faculty members ensure that the quest for knowledge istransmitted to their students. UGC sponsored ‘Scheme for Trans-disciplinaryResearch for India’s Developing Economy’(STRIDE) has a cell in the Departmentthat specialises in Adivasi/Tribal Studies and encourages, trains, and assistsResearchers, Doctoral Fellows, academicians and students in the area.
