Department of Geography


One of the oldest and best performing departments,a number of university toppershave been produced since inception.Along withgood infrastructure, a well-equipped laboratory,the Department also has a functional GIS/Remote Sensing Lab.The Departmentallibrary is rich with more than 150 booksand 55 titles.The Department has dedicated and committed faculty members and labattendant.The present Head,Dr.Debjani Roy is engaged in supervising scholars and working on a MinorResearch Project. The Department Club “Galaxy” organises inter-classcompetitions andinvited lectures are held annually under the ageis of SisterPriscilla Memorial Lecture. This Department has organised three National andone International level Seminar till date. The Department awards the best All-rounderwith K.N Roy Memorial Award sponsored by the present head which consists of acash prize and certificate. Sister Priscilla Memorial Prize is a special awardconsisting of a cash prize and certificate, given to the University topper bythe College. Annual educational tours are a special attraction of thisDepartment.From2016 the department started post-graduate course and at present the departmentruns credit-based semester system both at UG and PG level
